This article explains how to use the Workflow Enhancement Suite (WES) to perform a field update that triggers an update.
Without WES, field updates are possible, but they do not trigger other workflows. This makes dependent workflows difficult to configure.

Instructions
Access the Custom Action
In an existing or a new workflow, access the "Custom Action" menu, which is the last action in the workflow editor. The menu will open, and select the "Advanced Field Update (bludata)" action.
Note: This is available as both an Instant Action and Scheduled Action. If you are running into difficulties selecting this option in a Scheduled Action, please save and re-open the workflow.
Select and Configure the Appropriate Data Flow
Once selected, you will be presented with 2 options. Select the "Update Fields in My CRM". From here select the first option in the list, which will be the Current Record.
After this set up your data flow:
Select a Destination Field: In the first drop-down, select which field needs to be updated.
Select your operator: To use merge tags, select the option of "From a Specific Value"
Define the data mapping: Type what specific value the destination field should be updated to. Use the "#" key to pull up merge tags to dynamically update fields.
If you're destination field is a drop-down, the default will be to present the drop-down options. Click "use merge tags" below the field to use this feature.
You can add as many field updates that you require in a single data flow.
Once complete, hit "Save", provide a name that is appropriate (for future reference), and hit "Save and Associate".
Make sure you save the workflow to implement the change.
Trigger the Data Flow and Track Results
When the workflow is triggered and the conditions are satisfied, the data flow will run.
The great thing about WES is that triggering the workflow is automatically included in the data flow!
To audit this data flow, you can view the Timeline of the affected record, or access the "WES Logs" to see if the data flow was a success or failure.
